Fastwrite Prompts reflections of the past

I am where I'm at today because of the past, all the way back to childhood. My life in a small town with parents who cared, fishing at the Mn river, our trips to see the Grandma's and Grandpa, the simple life when I look back, riding my bike and staying out late to play in dark, there wasn't a fear of strangers coming to take you away, there was a innocence to my childhood. High school and first love, that was intense, her leaving me and the intense hurt that followed, growing up and leaving home, experiencing college and then experiencing what happens when you decide to party too much and maybe losing what your goals were in the first place, growing up some...never want to completely grow up, and then, finding the love of my life, my best friend and yes it sounds corny, but she is my soul mate, my Katie. Looking at life fresh again, traveling to Florida with Katie, showing her how much I love Florida and the ocean and proposing, now not the past, only today and what we have, finally going back to school and this time I'm going to make it through and graduate, my future is looking great.
